Glacier National Park Ceremony Sites - West Glacier

UPDATED 2/7/23

AS PROMISED- HERE IT IS!

Elope Montana's Guide to Wedding Ceremony Locations in Glacier National Park.

All the spots we know and love and that you can get a ceremony permit for. (On the WEST side of Glacier National Park, next week we will share East side locations.)

This year they are only allowing weddings of 30 or less in all permitted spots (perfect as we only do those!)

First up, one of our favorites that we frequent often-

Ryan’s Meadow

Reasons we LOVE Ryan’s Meadow: It’s secluded. Not many people know how to get to this incredible spot, so no one ventures her. Located on the shore of Lake McDonald, it has fabulous lake and mountain views. You can choose to stand on rocks on the shoreline or in the grass meadow. The entrance to the meadow is down a lovely forest trail. The perfect way to “walk down the aisle” to meet your lover! It’s ideal for an intimate setting. Note: 15 people here.

Apgar Amphitheater

What we LOVE about Apgar Amphitheater: Views on views on views! If you choose to do your ceremony on the shoreline, you will enjoy spectacular lake and mountain views. If you choose to “tie the knot” in the Amphitheater, you will still get spectacular views. It’s secluded, your loved ones can comfortably sit on the benches and you can walk down to the beach for photos afterward. This is one of our favorites to accommodate bigger gatherings. Only downside? If your ceremony takes place on the beach, you may have a few onlookers or kayakers (note photo #2). 15 people max.

Apgar Picnic Area

What we LOVE about Apgar Picnic Area- Amazing views into those stunning mountains! A few downfalls- it can be really busy. Usually, people get out of your way if they see you are having a wedding. You can also hear the road from the spot a bit more than, say, Ryan’s Meadow or Apgar Amphitheater. (15 max during peak season-20 in off-season.)

7 Mile Pullout (Sandy Point)

What we LOVE about 7-Mile Pullout (Sandy Point)- We have yet to do an elopement here! But we took one of our lovely couples there recently for photos following their elopement. This location can get really crowded. It could be hard to find parking during peak season. But it’s views are amazing. Max 15 peak season, 20 off-season.

10 Mile Pullout (Jackson Bay)

What we LOVE about 10-mile pullout (Jackson Bay): In the off-season, this spot is such a gem! It’s easy to get down to the beach from the parking area, you have incredible views from two different areas and there are really cool trees to use as tables to cut cakes on! The only downfall is you may have some people witnessing as they pull over to check out the views. Hey, more cheers for you after the kiss! Max 15 peak, 20 off-season.

Sprague Creek Picnic Area

What we LOVE about Sprague Creek Picnic Area: this spot is STUNNING! Your ceremony will take place just a little closer to those majestic mountains. Because it's a little farther up the road- we get a head start on Going-to-the-sun road with its amazing views. In the off-season, it’s pretty quiet but, like most places in the park, it can be busy in the summertime. 15 max peak season. 20 non-peak season.

Lake McDonald Lodge Beach Area

What we LOVE about Lake McDonald Lodge beach area: The nearly 360-degree view here is absolutely stunning. The creek runs right past where we usually hold the ceremony. Lake McDonald Lodge is romantic and beautiful. The only downfall is that it can be busy with tourists. If you don’t mind some extra onlookers, then this is a fantastic spot. 15 max occupancy during peak season.

Big Bend

This is back on the list for ceremonies! BUT, just a warning- we believe it will have to be on a platform and is a busy, busy spot. Not the most intimate. With that being said, it is still possible to come here for photos, just not ceremonies.

There are four other spots that we don’t have photos for, but if you choose, we will add them! They are: Fish Creek Amphitheater, Fish Creek Picnic Area, Avalanche Amphitheater & Avalanche Picnic Area. (The last two we don’t usually recommend as the Avalanche area is one of the busiest areas in the park in the peak season. So if it’s off season, we will gladly take you around there for photos, but it’s not really worth the stress of trying to find a parking spot on your wedding day!)

We hope you found this informative! Share and comment if you have anything you want to see included here!

XOXO,

ELOPE MONTANA
