The elopement that launched Elope Montana // Meghan & Anthony//Many Glacier
During these slower months, I, Lindsey, am growing extremely reflective. I wanted to share an elopement from 2018. It was technically the wedding that
LAUNCHED ELOPE MONTANA!
Meghan & Anthony had hired me to shoot their intimate family wedding. (It was before I was really “naming” them elopements. I had done some smaller ones like this in the past- but didn’t really call them that.) They wanted some officiant referrals. I had a few I had worked with and liked, but Kate Berry and I had recently been getting closer (after I did her intimate wedding/elopement on Big Mountain in 2015).
In 2018, I had captured SOOOOO many weddings. (My first being in 2002!) I loved the ease of this day. The lack of stress and worry. The intimacy of the day. I am still so PROUD of these images as I feel like they really captured the story telling of the day for them and their family. I was hooked. I still photographed big weddings but preferred smaller, more intimate one BECAUSE of this one.
So while editing, I remember thinking, I need to ask Kate if she wants to do this… like forever! Ha!
I did and she had an enthusiastic YES. She got on the design of a logo. I got to collecting photos of just the couples I’ve done or the more intimate weddings. We put together a website and PUT IT OUT THERE, into the world.
We manifested it. It happened!
We started booking as an all inclusive elopement business. Women run. Show up, get hitched. That was our first logo and concept. Not much has changed to the day! We’ve added on team members and grown our business in the past 8 years. We got REALLY busy in 2020. Like REALLY! I had 45 alone in 2020. 52 in 2021! We had NO idea it would grow that big!
Throughout the years it’s ebbed and flowed, as it can and does. But all in all, I’m PROUD of what we created and have to say, still really proud of this gallery. (Which looking back to some of my early 2000’s work, I feel like I need to apologize to the couples… some of those trends were just awful and I've had a real GLOW-UP.) We’ve changed the website a bit and had a few rad women leave. But the core of who we are and what we do has not changed. (Although Kate IS taking the year off to focus on her therapy business and family/summer life this year).
ALL IN ALL, by sharing this post- I want to ENCOURAGE you to make your dreams happen. I want to let you know that you CAN do hard things. This wasn’t all easy. We’ve had some ups and downs for sure. BUT DON’T GIVE UP on those hopes and dreams. And BE PROUD of what you’ve created. Although this year is a bit slower for me and our team at Elope Montana, I’m not getting discouraged. I’m so proud of all we’ve done. The stories we’ve told. The love we’ve captured.
I am so excited to keep capturing these moments and making YOU feel MAGICAL on your wedding day. That is what it’s all about. The feeling you had on this day. My ultimate goal is to never let you forget the way you FELT!
(Now please tell me, do these images make you FEEL what they may have been FEELING the day of their wedding?!)
Before ceremony… waiting to see what the weather does
Pinning on flowers in the Many Glacier historic lodge.
A little break in the rain so we went outside to get some couples photos
Ceremony
Walking to the permitted ceremony spot… before the real rain came in.
Maybe one of my most favorite moments EVER. Daughter wiping her nose on brides dress. Priceless! And now comes the RAIN.
Another favorite (and award winning image ) after we pulled out the umbrellas when it really started to rain.
The walk back to Lodge to make it “official” and sign the marriage license
